I was off for MLK day. The temperature range was in the single digits to the teens but figured I couldn't waste a day so I mounted the horse and headed out for a 50 miler.
Once again I am impressed with the new Cannondale gear and the Assos gloves. Near the 35th mile I did start to get some hand numbness but that quickly went away once I did a few finger excercises and they warmed right up. On a few stretches I was doing 30+mph on downhills, the air hitting me was frigid but the only place it affected were the feet and hands, moreso the feet. I really need to find something better than the 06 Cannondale Booties. Today I used them over a pair of Pearl Izumi neoprenes and it was much better than Saturday's ride, despite it being much colder.
On the way home there were quite a few people standing in bus shelters. They looked at me like I was nuts but I really felt bad for them because I knew I was about 5 times warmer than all of them.
