I weighed in at 167 today which is the lowest weight I have been since 1997. On Friday night I returned from 3 days in Atlanta on a business trip. I caught some kind of stomach bug and was unable to eat anything so I fasted those days, only drinking water, taking vitamins and eating salad sans dressing.
To be honest I felt great from fasting, I think sometimes the body needs a break from constantly digesting food.
February was a bad month for cycling. Weather was not on my side; I can do the cold but I can't handle ice on the roads, nor heavy downpours. Today was the first ride I took in almost two weeks but I think by staying off the bike I was able to notice a few things.
I'm feeling the difference resistance & core training have made. I'm pedaling a tougher gear at higher rpm's. The core work has really come through, I feel my body much more stable on the bike and can feel the extra power this is generating to my legs. I spent the first few weeks of my core/resistance program doing easy weights and light reps...just getting my body adapted to doing things it hasn't done in years or in some cases never. Last two weeks I really picked up on the strength phase and I'm excited what this will do for me.
March is really the last month I can work on making some big gains in the losing weight department. Once the season starts in April I won't be able to fuel properly and also lose 2+ lbs a week. I'm going to shoot for slow weight loss once April starts (1/2lb a week). I want to break the 160 barrier by the end of March.
